Side effects - CV
A
Fosphenytoin IV = severe CV reactions:
- asystole
- ventricular fibrillation
- cardiac arrest
- hypotension
- bradycardia
- heart block

Monitoring
A
- Monitor HR, BP and respiratory function for duration of infusion.
- Observe patient for at least 30 minutes after infusion.
- Hypotension = reduce infusion rate or discontinue.
- Reduce dose/infusion rate in elderly, renal or hepatic impairment.
