Q

What graph should you use for correlation questions

A

Line graph

Kind of data:
Two or more categorical groups &
One numeric variable
Both variables must be continuously numeric. Connect dots only if one variable is linear time (i.e. days, years…) Put time on the X-axis.
Show correlation with a ‘line of best fit’.

Q

Chia square analysis

A

Chai square determines weather or not results seen to confirm of question hypothesis
*Line up the predetermined acceptable P value with the appropriate number of degrees of freedom. If your chi square value is less than this number, accept the null hypothesis. Ifthe chi square value is greater than or equal to this number, the null hypothesis must be rejected and an alternative hypothesis must be created.

Q

Null hypothesis

A

Н.
Assumption is status quo
States that there is no relationship between 2 variables; findings probably occurred due to chance events
Often stated as “There is no relationship between the Independent variable and the dependent variable.”
Ex: H. There is no difference between bees and butterflies in the number of flowers they pollinate.
Ex: H. Cats show no preference for food based on shape.Ex: H. Plant growth is not affected by light color.

Q

Alternative hypothesis

A

Rejection of an assumption
States that there is a relationship between 2 variables; findings probably did NOT occur due to chance events
Statement of relationship that is thought will occur.Ex: Ha A single bee visiting a flower will pollinate with a higher efficiency than a single butterfly.Ex: H, Cats prefer round shaped food
Ex: Ha Plants exposed to red light will have a higher rate of photosynthesis than plants exposed to green light.
