Q

What are the 5 steps of a significance test

A
  1. Assumption
  2. Hypothesis (H0 and Ha)
  3. Test statistic (how far the point estimate falls from parameter value if H0 is true)
  4. P value (probability that you observe the observed test statistic or more extreme values if H0 were true)
  5. Conclusion

Q

Why does it mean if the value 0 falls in the confidence interval of the difference between two means

A

It means that it is plausible that u1 = u2

Q

What does dependent samples mean

A

You can subtract the scores of the two groups
You can then test if this differed significantly from 0
u(d)=u(1)-u(2) (= different from 0)

Two samples are dependent when they are made up to be different (matched sample, within group experiment)

Q

What is relative risk

A

When comparing two proportions, instead of just subtracting them to see the difference you divide one by the other p1/p2 and get the relative risk
