Static Electricity Flashcards
What are some examples of static electricity?
> van de graaf generator
> balloon sticking to wall
> electric shocks from a trampoline
> jumper crackling ( movement of electrons)
What happens to the material that gains electrons?
> it gains a negative charge
What happens to the material that loses electrons?
It gains a positive charge
What is meant by potential difference/voltage?
> The work done(energy transferred) per coulomb of charge that passes through a component.
What is the purpose of a thermistor?
At higher temperatures it allows more current to flow through
What is a use of an LDR?
For a light that turns on automatically when it gets dark.
What happens when you increase the current using a fixed resistor?
> the P.D increases proportionally
What is static electricity caused by?
> the movement of electrons from one insulated material to another
