Normal, clear, organized, alertness
Changes that occur in quality and pattern of mental activity
May be due to sensory overload, unusual physical conditions, and restricted sensory input
Example of sensory overload
Concert, Mardi Gras
Example of monotonous stimulation
Lecture, grounded, solitary confinement, airplane

Sick, moon, dreaming
Examples of ASC
Dreaming, sleeping, day-dreaming, sex, long distance running while listening to music

Small fast brainwaves associated with being alert and awake
