Gentrify
When a lower income area is swarmed with middle class and higher income citizens, renovations and businesses and homes are being purchased which raises tax values and property values, displacing the lower class
General Assembly
North Carolina’s legislative branch that is similar to the U.S Congress.

A person who calculated or assess the value of something, usually for tax or income purposes

Schools that are independently owned and are chartered by the government and follow those rules. Founded by parents, teachers or community

An elected official who investigated any death that is not caused by natural causesZ

An elected official who is responsible for his/her county
Urbanization
The process of a place becoming urban - population growth, business boom and more like a city
Mayor
An elected official who is in charge of his/her town, city or municipality
Zoning
The separation of a municipality into districts
