terrible wonders walk the world but none a match for man
Ode to the greatness of man
What has man done

He snares birds, beast of sea and land.
Man the skilled, the brilliant! He conquers all
Taming with his techniques animals for his use
Speech, thought, law, he taught himself
The one unbeatable enemy
From Death alone he will find no rescue, but has plotted escapes from plague
from greatness to destruction
Ingenious past all measure past all dream, he forges on now to destruction now to greatness.
How does the city do well
When he Weaves the laws of the land with the justice of the gods that binds his oaths together, he and his city rise high (Creon is actually against the city)
What does the city cast out
The city casts out that man of reckless daring
Antigone brought in as a prisoner
did you break the king’s laws? Did they take you in some act of mad defiance?
