Steps to be taken and observations made to initiate start sequence

A

Operator records head and tail water on form 84a
Ensure gen dc pilot light for dc protective relays is on
Run gate limit to 25%
Place 1cs in the start position observe green light go out and red turns on
Observe FWS operation from indicator lights.
Wait for auxiliaries to time out and gen to roll

Start generator cooling water
Closes a contact in the generator auxiliary run timer circuit
Closes a contact to seal itself in

What determines when and which generator is started as required?

A

TVA load schedule determines the time in order to meet load demand.
Once time is determined operator checks form 103b for available generator with lowest month previous hours and starts it.
