List the 8 steps in making a standard solution

1. calculate the required mass of absence of water
2. put more than the required mass of solid in a drying oven. allow it to cool in a dessicator
3. weigh out the exact mass of the required substance into a clean dry beaker
4. dissolve the solid in distilled water using a stirring rod
5. transfer the solution to a pre-rinsed volumetric flask using a clean glass funnel. Use the stirring rod as a guide to prevent splashing of solution.
6. use a wash bottle with distilled water to wash all remnants of solution from the beaker and glass funnel into the volumetric flask
7. fill the flask to the graduated mark with distilled water
   - beware of parallax error: meniscus is on the mark
8. Stopper the flask and shake/ invert it 10-20 times to mix thoroughly.
