What can stained glasses show?
Stained Glass can show stories from The Bible.
Why was stained glass popular during medieval times?
Stained Glass was very popular during the Medieval times. Most people could not read or write at
this time (illiterate). These windows – as well as a way to praise God - would show people stories
from The Bible, which they could understand through the pictures alone.
Why are stained glass a way of praising God?
Some were put in as a way of praising God, this would especially be the case in Catholic Churches which are deliberately made to be very ornate and beautiful to show the beauty of God.
Making stained glass windows also showed the devotion that
someone had for God and their religion as they would be
spending lots of time to make something so beautiful.
