● Islam expanded into an empire covering parts of China, India, Europe, the whole Middle East, and parts of Africa.
● Muslims excelled in scientific advancements.
● Translated knowledge from Greek, Indian, and Persian civilizations.
● Characterized by open-mindedness, unity, and peace-making.
Stage of Decline
● Began after the withdrawal of Muslims from Spain in 1492 and continued until the dissolution of the Islamic empire in 1924.
● Marked by hostility toward science and philosophy.
● Increased religious debates and sectarian divisions.
● Rise of extremism in religious and life matters.
● Islamic culture has become scattered.
● Decline in critical thinking despite its encouragement in Islam.
