Stages in Construction of Partial Dentures Flashcards
What four things do you do during the EXAMINATION stage?
- Assessment of mouth tissue (ex. denture stomatitis?)
- Full dental charting + BPE.
- Drawing of existing denture.
- Examination of occlusion (index teeth? intercuspal position)?
What are index teeth? What do they help us see?
a natural tooth in one jaw has a contacting cusp that meets the opposing tooth in the other jaw. Allows us to see the position in which the natural teeth bite together aka iNTERCUSPAL POSITION.
What is intercuspal position?
position of maximum interdigitation of the natural teeth.
What is another term for record blocks?
occlusal rims
When are recrod blocks required?
When occlusal relationships are not clear, not sufficient index teeth.
