13
Q

How are engines fed on the AN series?

A

The engine is by the onside one center or the two engine pumps. Special valves deliver from the center tank preferentially

16
Q

How can the engine be supplied in case fuel pumps fail to? Does it apply to all tanks?

A

Suction Valves enable gravity feeding. Center tanks, however, do not have such capability

17
Q

How doe the CTR tank XFR valves work?

A

The FLSCU opens the XFR valves automatically when 500 kg is used from the inner tanks. It works solely by suction

18
Q

Will the XFR valves stop transferring fuel to the wing tanks when they are in MAN Mode?

A

No, if the inner tank is full it can overflow if the pumps aren’t off

19
Q

When does the fuel from the outer tanks move into the inner tanks? What cautions may exist with that movement?

A

When the inner tanks go below 750kg. Fuel may be moved earlier if inner level is sensed differently due to descent/accelerations and cause a low-level caution

20
Q

When do ACT tanks start transferring?

A

After slat retraction on takeoff and center tank sensor is dry for 10mins

21
Q

How is the APU fed?

A

From the left feed line and low-pressure pumps. An APU fuel pump supplies APU for fuel when pressure is low

22
Q

How long does full refueling take?

A

17 minutes for wing tanks

20 minutes for all tanks

23
Q

What precaution exists from electrical transients during refeuling?

A

The refueling may stop the process so the preselected fuel quantity must be entered

24
Q

What is the refeuling tank heirarchy in auto refueling? Manual refueling?

A

Outer > Inner > Center

Manual: Wing then center then ACT

25
Q

Can the aircraft be refuled with battery power only?

A

Yes

26
Q

When do the refuel valves close automatically?

A

When the preselected refuel value is reached or a high level is sensed

27
Q

What do the XFR valves allow?

A

Fuel transfer between the tanks

Defueling throught the refuel coupling

28
Q

What controls auto refueling and what does that system the transmit?

A

The FQI, it relayes Total fuel mass and temperature to pilots

29
Q

What does the FQI system include?

A

Dual channel system including:

1) FQI Computer
2) Capacitance probes in each tank
3) Densitometer
4) Capacitance Index Compensator
5) Quantity indicator and preselector on the feuling panel

30
Q

What might affect fuel quantity accuracy inflight and by how much?

A

High pitch from climb will cause a fuel discrepancy up to 6 minutes from departure reaching 400kg for low fuel quantities (7tons) and up to one ton with maximum fuel

31
Q

Roles of the FLSCU?

A

1) Fuel level sensor (overflow, low, overflow sensing)

2) Fuel temeprature sensing to control IDG cooling recirculation

32
Q

When does the low level fuel warning come on in each tank?

A

When FLSCU senses level below 750kg (independent FQI)

33
Q

What inputs from ADIRS does the FQI get?

A

A/C attitdue

34
Q

What is the role of the Fuel Tank Inerting System?

A

Reduces fuel tank flamability that have a high flammability exposure by replacing ambient air in tanks with oxygen depleted air. (Less than 12 percent oxygen)

35
Q

What does the FTIS comprise of?

A

Conditioned Service Air System (CSAS)

Inert Gas Generation System (IGGS)

36
Q

What do fault lights indicate on L/R TK Pump pb’s?

A

Low delivery pressure

37
Q

What does the MODE SEL pb do on AUTO? (AO series)

A

Center tank XFR vavles open when inner tank not full

Auto stop automatically after 5min when center tank is low

38
Q

What does fault light on MODE SEL pb mean ?

A

Comes on when center tank has more than 250kg and either wing tanks have less than 5000kg

39
Q

What does TK PUMP pb differ when ON between AN/AO series?

A

AN the pump is only on when center tank delivery pressure goes below a certain threshold

40
Q

What does the MODE SEL pb do on AUTO? (AN series)

A

1) run for 2 min after engine start
2) Pumps run if slats are retracted
3) Stop 5 min after center tank low

41
Q

What does a solid green END light mean on the refueling panel? Flashing?

A

Automatic refueling is done, if flashing means it has been aborted

42
Q

When does the fuel temperature advisory come?

A

Below -40C

Above 45C inner and 50 Outer cells

43
Q

what does it mean if the outer/center tank values are boxed in amber?

A

When transfer valves fail to open when low level is detected in inner tank
When cneter tank transfer valves fail in closed postion

44
Q

When does the inflight advisory come on for fuel tanks imbalance?

A

1500kg difference

45
Q

When does the FOB indication get boxed in amber?

A

When both transfer valves fail closed and low level inner

When center tank pumps fail or OFF

46
Q

What prompts the REFUELG memo?

A

The refueling panel door postion
