A body of full or partially immersed in a fluid will experience an up thrust equal to the weight of the fluid displaced

What is a LIST
A
A LIST is a controlled state in where the ships weight is angled to port or stbd by either an off centre weight or external force. to rectify a LIST you can remove the off centre weight or counter balance it

What is a LOLL
A
A LOLL is an uncontrolled state in where the ship sways port to stbd like a pendulum, this can be caused by excess weight high up such as a flood or unusual loading, insufficient weight low down or free surface effects, the only way to amend a LOLL is to reduce top weight, increase weight low down or reduce the free surface effects
