Q

How do SSRI’s work?

A
  • SSRI’s work by increasing serotonin levels in the brain.
  • After carrying a message, serotonin is usually reabsorbed by the nerve cells (reuptake).
  • SSRI’s work by blocking (inhibiting) the reuptake, meaning more serotonin is available to pass further messages between nearby nerve cells.
