Q
What did Gottesman do?
A
- large scale family study that showed schz in families and twins
2
Q
What were the findings of Gottesman’s study?
A
- it showed that if one identical twin had schz then the other twin is at a 48% chance of also having schz. comapred to non-identical twins where it was a 17% chance.
3
Q
Evaluate Gottesman’s study?
A
- it showed a positive correlation between genetic similarity and the risk of schz.
-however, a limitation of this is that it is retrospective data.
4
Q
What is retrospective data?
A
- a retrospective study using existing data that have been recorded for reasons other than the research .

Q
What does it mean for schz to be polygenic?
