Learning Theory Flashcards
Who introduced the idea of the learning theory?
-Dollard and Miller
What is classical conditioning
-involves learning to associate two stimuli together.
What is operant Conditioning?
-learning from the consequences of behaviour
What is positive reinforcement?
-addition of stimulus to increase the likelihood a behaviour will continue.
What is negative reinforcement?
-removal of stimulus to increase the likelihood a behaviour will continue.
What is positive punishment?
-addition of stimulus to decrease the likelihood behaviour will continue.
What is negative punishment?
-removal of stimulus to decrease the likelihood the behaviour will continue, in hopes that the behaviour will become extinct.
Who said attachment = secondary drive?
-Sears et al : suggested as caregiver provides food, the primary drive of hunger becomes generalised.
One strength of learning theory?
