Gold standard for restoring primary molars with distal or mesial caries.
No conventional preparation or caries removal required. LA is also not required.
When is the Hall technique contra-indicated?
There are signs and symptoms of:
* pulpal inflammation
* pulpal necrosis
* periodontal involvement

Technique:
* separators placement few days before
* check carious primary molar is free from obvious pulpal or periradicular pathology
* select correct size crown, fill with GIC and place on tooth
* advise child and parent that the patient may feel pushing when seating the crown
* get child to bite down on crown, seating it onto the tooth
* clear away excess cement
* occlusion usually evens out by dento-alveolar compensation within a few weeks
