What did they eat?
They ate fish, meat, bread, dairy, fruit, veggies, and porridge.
How did they make bread and porridge?
Bread was made with wheat, barley, or rye. Porridge was made with oats.
Where did they get veggies?
Farmers grew lots of veggies, like carrots, onions, beans, and parsnips. They also grew herbs.
Where did they get dairy and eggs?
They got milk from cows, sheep, and goats. They got eggs from poultry and birds.
Where did they get fish and birds?
Fish were caught in rivers and seas. They also ate shellfish and meat from washed up whales. They caught wild birds, like puffins.
Where did they get fruit, nuts, and honey?
Nuts, cherries, and berries were gathered from the wild. Fruit was grown in gardens and honey was used to sweeten foods.
