Jackson won the popular vote but it wast more than 50 percent so it went to the house of representatives where Henry clay scewed the vote so Adams won so he could become Secretary of state.

Speculators bought up most of the land hoping to make money
Speculators borrowed money from state banks which lent money without limit
What were some more causes of the panic
State banks had printed more money that wasnt backed up by gold.Everyone had to pay for land in gold and silver so many people were asking the banks for loansand then the banks did not have any so they had to close.Cotton prices went down due to over supply.Farmers could not pay back their loans

Lasted 3 years .90% of factories closed.Many people were unemployed and could not buy food.many stole food.
