SR- Solid Radwaste Flashcards
What is the purpose of the SR system?
Handles and packages concentrated liquid radwaste, spent resins, disposable filters and dry active waste (DAW)
How does the SR system handle spent resin?
Spent resin is sluiced to a liner or high integrity container (HIC) and dewatered and dried with the resin drying system
What tank can be used to flush and decontaminate the SR system?
Reactor Makeup Water Tank
What system is used to flush the vendor system after volume reduction in the SR system?
DS
Where are the local control panels, ZRN-E01 and SRN-E01, for the SR system located?
ZRN-E01 (instrument cabinet) in the Radwaste Control Room
SRN-E01 (solidification panel) outside the high level storage area
If an alarm is received in the Radwaste Control room, how long before it is received in the Main Control Room?
Within 5 minutes if it is not acknowledged in the Radwaste Control room
Concerning the SR Spent Resin Tanks, which one normally receives spent resin form the LR system’s adsorption bed and mixed bed demineralizers?
Low Activity Spent Resin Tank
What does the SR High Activity Spent Resin Tank normally receive?
Spent resin from the CH systems purification, deborating and pre-holdup ion exchangers and the PC system’s cleanup ion exchangers
(resin exceeding 500 mr/hr)
Where is dilution water injected into the SR Spent Resin Tanks?
At the bottom head near the resin removal line to facilitate dilution and mixing of the resin as the slurry enters the resin outlet pipe
How is resin removal accomplished in the SR Spent Resin Tanks?
By a line inside a line, which provides sluice water in the outer pipe area through a Johnson screen to the inner pipe area, near the tank bottom. This transports resin with an educator effect as the water/resin exits the inner pipe
What connections are provided as a backup method for fluidizing the spent resin tank beds in the SR system?
Air and nitrogen connections
What is the purpose of the SR Resin Transfer/Dewatering Pump? What kind of pump is it?
Transfers spent resin from various ion exchangers/demineralizers to the high and low spent resin tanks
Also transfers the contents of the spent resin tanks to the resin drying system
progressing cavity positive displacement
Why is the fluid discharged from the SR Resin Transfer/Dewatering Pump free of pulsations or vibrations?
It does not use pistons or valves
What system supplies the mechanical seal to the SR Resin Transfer pump?
RWMT
What would cause the SR Resin Transfer pump to stop? Where can this pump be controlled from? Location?
Low suction pressure and electrical overload condition
RW control room, solidification panel and local handswitch
100’ RW building
When the Resin Transfer pump starts, why is a signal sent to deenergize solenoid valve SRN-HY-402?
Opens valve SRN-HV-402, which supplies reactor makeup water to pump seals
