Q

How do you calculate the square root when the square root is a decimal number?

A
Answer line:\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
                    36 98
Calculate the nearest square root of the first two digits.Put the answer on top and do the first two digits - the square.
6\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
36 98
36
00 98 Put down the next two digits.
Multiply 6 by 2=12
Now you know that 12*x*=the biggest number you can get under 98. You must calculate * (* is a digit).
120x0=0
Put 0 in your answer line.
Do 98-0=98
Put down the next two digits (if there aren't any, put down 00).
Do it again!
60x2=120
120*x*=closest to 9800
1208x8=9664
Put 8 on the answer line, 9800-9664=146, put down 00, and so on until you get 0 when you do your number minus the product.
