Performance Enhancing Substances are substances that improve a person or athletes performance.
How does EPO give athletes an unfair advantage?
EPO (Erythropoietin) would give athletes an unfair advantage as EPO increases the red blood cell production which therefore increases the amount of Oxygen going to the muscles.
What is a Balanced Diet?
A balanced diet is when you eat a wide variety of foods in the right proportions, and consume the right amount of food and drink to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.
How will heart rate and breathing rate change in relation to exercise and fitness levels?
Your breathing rate increases when you are performing high intensity exercises so that you can provide the exercising muscles with Oxygen at a higher rate. Your heart rate increases when performing high intensity exercises so that you can deliver Oxygen and Glucose to the respiring muscles more efficiently.
What are the different nutrients needed in the body?
The different nutrients needed in the body are carbohydrates, fats/lipids, protein, minerals, vitamins, fibre, and water.
