Microbes Flashcards
To Be Able To Known What A Microbe Is And Identify Different Parts Of A Microscope
What is a Microbe?
Microbes are very small organisms, you need a microscope to see them.
What are the four groups of Microbes?
The four groups of Microbes are called Bacteria, Protoctista, Fungi and Viruses
What are some diseases caused by Microbes?
Some diseases caused by Microbes are Pneumonia which is caused by Bacteria, Covid-19 caused by Viruses, Malaria caused by Protoctista and Foot-Fungus caused by Fungi.
Describe how some bacteria can be helpful, and others harmful to humans.
Bacteria are small living single celled organisms that can come in good (beneficial) forms and bad (pathogenic) forms that can cause disease for example food like yoghurts are examples of good bacteria whereas bad bacteria can be found on some foods that can cause illness.
How can Bacteria rapidly reproduce?
Bacteria can rapidly reproduce by Binary Fission which is an asexual process whereby a single cell divides into two.
What is the Aseptic Technique and why is it important?
The Aseptic Technique is a collection of medical practises and procedures that helps protect patients from dangerous germs. Bacteria, Viruses and microorganisms are everywhere so using the Aseptic Technique can help keep important equipment from being contaminated.
