Spirometry Flashcards
1
Q
Spirometry is used in the diagnosis of?
A
COPD
2
Q
What pathology does spirometry assess?
A
Airway narrowing
3
Q
What parameters does spirometry measure?
A
FEV1 - forced expiratory volume in 1 second
FVC - forced vital capacity
4
Q
What is the FEV1/FVC ratio in COPD?
A
Obstructive conditons;
FEV1 is small (volume they can breath out in that 1st second reduces drastically)
So when divided by fvc, the number comes out Smaller than normal.
ratio < 75%
5
Q
What other conditoins are obstructive in nature but not to be confused with copd i.e. in flow volume graph?
A
asthama
tracheal stenosis
