What does a spirometry test involve?
A
Blowing hard into a mouth piece that also measures how much air can be filled into your lungs
This generates 2 numbers, your FEV1 + FVC

A
Create a ratio between the 2 numbers
=> 0.8

A
<0.8 => indicative of obstructive disease like COPD

Irreversible obstruction of airways of lungs that involves the narrowing of the airways + destruction of the airsacs in your lungs
heavily associated with smoking
Lead to heart problems, prone to more infections, and blood clot formation for strokes and a pulmonary embolism
