Spirometry Flashcards

1
Q

What is the difference between obstructive and restrictive lung disease?

A
  1. Obstructive - increase in resistance to airflow due to partial or complete airway obstruction at any level.
  2. Restrictive - reduced expansion of the lung parenchyma and decrease total lung capacity.

Q

What are the normal results for FEV1, FVC, and FEV1/FVC ratio in spirometry?

A
  1. FEV1 - >80% predicted
  2. FVC - >80% predicted
