Healthy:
-Normal flunctuation in mood takes strides good sense of humour consistent performance, physical and social active, confident in self and others
Mental health continuum column 2:
Reacting:
-nervous irritable, sad, overwhelmed, displaced sarcasm, procrastination, forgetfulness, low energy, muscle tension, headache, decreased social activity
Mental health continuum column 3:
Injured:
Anxiety, anger sadness, tearful, hopeless worthless, negative attitude, difficulty with concentration, trouble making decisions, classes, deadlines, restless, social withdrawal

Ill:
exessive anxiety, panic attacks, easily enraged, aggressive, depressed, numb, cannot fall asleep or stay awake, suicidal thought, addiction

heart beat faster, blood pressure rises to fight threats

muscles tense and can trigger tension

Mental Status examination
Based primarily on observational data gathered by nurses and interview questions, the MSE can be used to establish a baseline, evaluate changes over time, facilitate diagnosis, plan effective care, and evaluate response to treatment in clients with mental health and addiction.
ABCT stands for
appearance, behaviour, cognitive, thought process
when observing patients appearance look for
general presentation to others. What do they look like.
-Verbal non verbal

-observe their posture
When looking at patients behaviour look at
mood and affect: expressing the prevailing feelings through mood (a sustained emotion that is being expressed) and affect (a display of feelings or state of mind)
-observe speech
When observing patent cognition look at
Consciousness: be aware of feelings, thoughts, and environment
Oritented: aware of objective world
MemoryL ability to set down and store experiences and perceptions
Attention and concentration
Reasoning
When observing patient thinking look at
perception, content, process, insight, judgement
