- Ligamentum nuchae, SP C7
Insertion:
- SP upper thoracic
- SP of cervical except C1

Origin:
- Common tendon
- TVPS upper 5 thoracic vertebrae
Insertion:
- Lower 9 ribs & TVP thoracic vertebrae
- TVP of cervical vertebrae
- Mastoid process of temporal bone
Erector Group
Origin & Insertion of the Iliocostalis
Origin:
- common tendon
- Posterior surface of ribs 1-12
Insertion:
- TVP of lumbar vertebrae 1-3 and posterior surface of ribs 6-12
- Posterior surface of ribs 1-6
- TVP lower cervicals

Unilaterally: laterally flex vertebrae column to the same side
Bilaterally: extend vertebral column

Origin:
- Inferior 1/2 of ligamentum nuchae
- SP C7 - T4
Insertion:
- Mastoid process
- Lateral portion of superior nuchal line
Name the Action of Splenius Capitis
Unilaterally:
- Rotate head/neck to the same side
- Laterally Flex head/neck to the same side
Bilaterally:
Extend the head/neck

Origin & Insertion of Splenius Cervicis
Origin: SP T3-T6
Insertion: TVP C1- C3
Action of the Splenius Cervicis
Unilaterally:
- Laterally flex head/neck to the same side
- Rotate head/neck to the same side
Bilaterally:
Extend the head/neck

Origin: Posterior Iliac Crest
Insertion:
- Last rib
- TVP 1-4 lumbar vertebrae
Actions of Quadratus Lumborum
Unilaterally:
- Laterally tilt the pelvis
- Laterally flex the vertebrae column to the same side
Bilaterally:
- Fix the last rib during inhalation
- Extend the vertebrae column

Origin & Insertion of Rectus Abdominis
Origin:
- Pubic crest
- Pubic symphysis
Insertion:
- Cartilage of 5,6,7 ribs
- Xiphoid process
Action of Rectus Abdominis
- Flex the vertebrae column
- Tilt the pelvis posteriorly
Nerve of Rectus Abdominis
T5-T12 , ventral rami
Origin & Insertion of External Oblique
Origin:
External surface of 5-12th ribs
Insertion:
- Anterior part of the iliac crest
- Rectus sheath to linea alba
Actions of External Oblique
Unilaterally:
- Laterally flex vertebrae column to the same side
- Rotate vertebrae column to the opposite side
Bilaterally:
- Flex the vertebral column
- Compress abdominal contents

Origin:
- Lateral inguinal ligament
- Iliac crest
- Thoracolumbar fascia
Insertion:
- Internal surface of lower 3 ribs
- Rectus sheath to linea alba

Unilaterally:
- Laterally flex vertral column to the same side
- Rotate vertebral column to the same side
Bilaterally
- Flex the vertebral column
- Compress abdominal contents

- T7-T12, L1
- iliohypogastric and ilioinguinal
- ventral rami
Origin & Insertion of Transverse Abdominis
Origin:
- Lateral inguinal ligament
- iliac crest
- Thoracolumbar fascia
- Internal surface of the lower 6 ribs
Insertion:
Rectus sheath to linea alba
Action of Transverse Abdominis
Compress abdominal contents
Nerves of Transverse Abdominis
T7-12, L1
- Iliohypogastric and ilioinguinal
- ventral division
Origin & Insertion of the Diaphragm
Origin:
- inner surface of lower 6 ribs
- upper 2 or 3 lumbar vertebrae
- inner part of xiphoid process
Insertion:
central tendon
Actions of the Diaphragm
- Draw down the central tendon of the diaphragm
- Increase the volume of the thoracic cavity during inhalation

Insertion: Posterior surface of 2-5th ribs
Action of Serratus Posterior Superior
Elevate the ribs during inhalation

Origin & Insertion Serratus Posterior Inferior
Origin: SP T12-L3
Insertion: Posterior surface of the 9-12th ribs
Action of Serratus Posterior Inferior
Depress the ribs during exhalation
