Spine Flashcards
Lorodosis
what happens
tight/weak
causes
Anterior pelvic tilting
Hip flexion
Tight: Hip flexors and thoracolumbar
Weak: abdominals and Hip extensors
Causes: faulty posture, obesity, pregnancy, weak abdominals
Relaxed or slouched posture/ sway back
what happens
tight/weak
causes
tight: upper abdominal, lower lumbar extensors, hip extensors, intercostals
weak: lower abdominals, hip flexors, extensor muscles of lower thoracic region
exaggerated spine posture
Flat low back
reduces shock absorbing effect
stress PLL
increase posterior disc space
Round back/ forward head posture
tight: intercostal, pec M & m, SAnterior, LScapulae, Latts, SCM, Sclene, UFT, Rectus capiti M&m, Oblique capitis Inf & Sup
Weak: Rhomboids, MFT, supra hyoid, infra hyoid, longus capitis, rectur capiti ant & lateralis, sup. oblique longus colli
Flat back and neck posture/military posture
Tight: anterior neck mscls, Tx erector spinae, scapular retractors, restricted scapular movements-> decreases shoulder elevation freedom
Weak: scapular protractor, intercostals
Scoliosis
Structural/ non-structural
tight: joint, muscles, fascia on CONCAVE side weak : on CONVEX side of curvex adducted hip: ADductors tights, ABductors weak of that leg Concave: compression + extension Lx facets IV disc compression side bending of spine elevated ilium on long leg side ADduction ribs anteriorly prominent
Convex: Rotation Lowered leg, short Hip ABduction, compression stress ribs posteriorly prominent scapula- elevated shoulder- ?
bamboo spine
AS
lumbar involvement then progress cephalad
commonly affected jpint b/l si joint
b/lshoulder pain , thoracic pain
morning pain and stiffness diffculty standing straight
hallmark– atlanto axial subluxation
Scheuermans disease
T10- L2
boney necrosis
schermols nodes
growing pains
dowagers hump
osteoprotic #, increased thoracic kyphosis
