spinal nerves Flashcards
1
Q
What do the somatic nerves supply?
A
voluntary muscles
skeletal strutures
2
Q
what do the autonomic nerves supply
A
involuntary muscle
organs
glands
3
Q
sympathetic nerve fibres
A
exit lateral horns located between T1-L2
4
Q
where are somatic nerves generated in spinal cord
A
dorsal and ventral horn
5
Q
where are autonomic nerves generated in the spinal cord?
A
lateral horn
6
Q
Autonomic nerve plexus
A
A nerve plexus of sympathetic and parasympathetic neves.
Usually found near an artery and named according to their underlying artery.
7
Q
Parasympathetic nerves
A
Exit the spinal cord at C3,C7,C9,C10 and S2-S4
Do not enter the sympathetic chain
8
Q
Pelvic splanchnic nerves
A
- Originate in S2-S4
- Supply the pelvic and lower abdominal organs
- Run through an autonomic nerve plexus- the inferior hypogastric plexus
- They do not synapse in the plexus- they synapse in parasympathetic ganglia located in the walls of target organs
9
Q
which part of the spinal cord supplies the somatic nerve fibres?
A
C1-CO1
