Spermatogenesis Flashcards
1
Q
Spermatogonia
A
Diploid cells lining the walls of the seminiferous tubules. These cells go through mitosis very day. These cells are stimulated by FSH and Testosterone.
2
Q
Sertoli Cells
A
Are stimulated by Testosterone and FSH, which nurse the developing sperm. Once they are stimulated, they begin meiosis. By the end of meiosis, they are called spermatids.
3
Q
Process
A
- Occurs in the seminiferous tubules of the testes
- The spermatogonial cells multiply to produce diploid cells. The cells undergo myosis to produce fur haploid spermitids
- A \s the spermitids mature they are stored in the epididymus until ejaculation
4
Q
Interstitial cells
A
Surrounds semineferious tubials which secrete testesterine
Testesterine: needed for the development of the spermatozoa
