SPEED Powerstore Flashcards
What is a container?
executable, lightweight, stand alone software package
What is the benefit of containers?
packages up all code and dependencies - application code, runtime, software libraries
What is Docker?
software platform for building applications based on Containers
facilitates easy deployment of applications inside software containers
What is the benefit of Docker?
provides a layer of abstraction to make shared use of the operating system kernel
isolates these applications from one another
What is the node operating system for Powerstore T?
Container Linux
How is a Powerstore cluster all connected?
over a management IP network
What is Journald?
background process that runs on every node
when commands are routed between appliances/nodes - log messages will be split between
What is the processor on Powerstore?
Intel Skylake
What are the available IO modules on Powerstore?
4 port 25GbE
4 port 10G BASE-T
4 port 32Gb FC
What is true about DRE?
can span across physical enclosures in the appliances and have mixed drive sizes
What is the spare rule for DRE?
each fault resiliency set reserves spare space equal to 1 physical drive (1 of 25)
What is the stripe width rule on DRE?
4 data + 1 parity when between 6 and 9 drives
8 data + 1 parity over 9 drives
What is a caveat when it comes to stripe width on DRE?
full stripe writes occur regardless of 4+1 or 8+1
rebuild performance favors 8+1 (why it’s recommended to start at 10 drive minimum instead of 6)
How are NAS Servers mounted on Powerstore?
run inside a container running on a node
each node has its own container for NAS
multiple NAS Servers can reside in the container
What are the recommendations for running NAS Servers on Powerstore?
multiple NAS servers are recommended to balance load across nodes
NAS Servers run on a preferred node except in the case of a node failure
What protection schema does Powerstore have for NAS Servers?
automatic failover from one NAS node to the other
failover generally completes within 30 seconds to avoid host timeouts - failback is a manual process
What protection schema does Powerstore have for file data?
NDMP (network data management protocol)
backup and recovery protocol used to transport data between NAS and backup systems
What kind of NDMP is available on Powerstore?
3-way NDMP
transfers both metadata and backup data over LAN
What are the minimum and maximum sizes for file systems on Powerstore?
3GB
256TBs
What are file system quotas?
provides the ability to regulate capacity consumption
What file system quota options are available on Powerstore?
user quotas - limits capacity consumed by individual user
tree quotas - limits capacity consumed on a specific directory on the file system
What RPO values are available on Powerstore?
5min - 24hr - leverages Powerstore snapshot technology (like Unity)
What are the available replication topologies for Powerstore?
one to one (uni directional or bi directional)
one to many
many to one
What are the max VLANs per appliance?
256
What are the max volumes/clones on 500T?
1500
What are the max volumes in a volume group per appliance?
75
