Speed and distance travelled Flashcards
What is speed?
the rate of change at a particular distance, in a straight line
What is distance?
refers to how far the object travelled
What is time?
how long it took for an object to move
Draw down the triangle for D,S,T and write down the formulas for each
refer to paper.
During this course, you have conducted an experiment to study the effect of speed on distance travelled. write an hypothesis
if the height is increases, then the speed of a trolley car increases
List the equipment needed
1 x dynamic trolley
1 x stopwatch
1 x metre ruler
1 x phone
1 x ramp
1 x rubber band
Write down a method
- measure a fixed distance in the classroom for example 4 metres
- place ramp at a certain angle and push dynamic trolley
- using the stopwatch measure how long it took for the trolley to travel 4m or less
- record results
- repeat steps and switch to digital technology
explain some limitations and advantages of using digital and analogue technology
limitations:
- difficulty in calibration
- induce errors
advantages:
- measurements are recorded
- responds faster to change
