Speech 1 Flashcards
Para 1 should uniforms be enforced in schools
in school, especially nowadays, there is a lot of pressure on the students to dress well and look smart. Whether it be through colour co-ordination, designer labels or just not mixing various horrible pieces of clothing. In most non uniform schools people are judged based on what they where.
Para 2
This however is stopped through the enforcing of the rule that all pupils must where a school uniform. Some people may comment on school uniforms not supporting individuality but i would argue that individuality comes from the personality of a person. A school uniform, forces people to judge people based on their personality rather than preconceived opinions of a person based on what they chose to wear that day.
Para 3
Another reason school uniform is a positive thing for our youth is that it is helpful for the less fortunate. People often associate the clothes you are wearing with the wealth of that person, which i personally disagree with due to the fact that most billionaires and hundred millionaires do not demonstrate their huge amounts of wealth through the labels they are wearing. For example you will never see Bill Gates present the latest Microsoft project head to toe in designer. My point being that if school uniforms are enforced there is no room for any judgement based on how expensive a piece of clothing a student is wearing is, therefore Making the school environment a healthier place for children to come to every day.
Para 4
Another reason school uniform is a necessary thing for school life is that the pupils will feel smarter and therefore work harder. When wearing a uniform the students are representing the school, this gives the students a physical representation of belonging to the school community which would most likely improve their work ethic. Uniform can also be helpful when trying to identify what school someone attends in certain situations.
Para 5
Overall, To say a school uniform is completely necessary to any students school life would be a stretch but i certainly believe it is a rule that should be enforced if possible.
