Poetry Flashcards
Ozymandias
Look on my works
On the pedestal
The lone and level sands stretch far away
London
In every cry of man
Mind forged manacles
My last duchess
My last duchess painted on the wall
Notice neptune taming a seahorse
Cast in bronze for me
As if she ranked the gift of a nine hundred year old name with anybodys gift
Charge of the light brigade
In the valley of death
Noble six hundred
Honour the light brigade
Exposure
Slowly our ghosts drag home
All their eyes are ice, but nothing happens
Storm on the island
We are prepared
Its a huge nothing that we fear
Bayonet charge
The patriotic tear that brimmed his eye
Bullets smacking the belly out of the air
Remains
On another occasion we were sent out
His blood shadow stays on the street
Poppies
I rounded up as many white cat hairs as i could
War photographer
A strangers features started
A hundred agonies in black and white
The emigree
My city takes me dancing through the city
Kamikaze
He must have wandered which would be the better way to die
To live as though he ad never returned
He was not the father we loved.
Tissue
Maps. Too the sun shines through the borders.
Checking out me history
Tone and stanza look changes when talking about the black history.
Dem tell me dem tell me…and all dat
Carving out my identity
The emigeree
They accuse me of absence
They accuse me of being dark in their free city.
