What is a specific population?
A subgroup of a population that has common characteristics and needs.
Characteristics of Indigenous people in terms of being a priority group?
- Household income is (62%) less than non-Indigenous Australians
- Over one quarter (27%) of Indigenous people live in rural and remote areas compared to 2% of Australians that aren’t Indigenous
- Half as likely to complete Year 12
- More likely to be in the labour force than be unemployed

- More likely to be employed in trade or laborer jobs rather than professions
