• put oil in beaker and record the mass of the oil.
• put immersion heater and thermometer into oil.
• record starting temperature of the oil.
• wrap the beaker in insulating foam.
• connect joulemeter to immersion heater.
• set a timer for thirty minutes and wait.
• read number of joules of energy that passed into the immersion heater.
• read the final temperature of the oil.
