Electricity Flashcards
What is renewable electricity?
Electricity that won’t run out since we can get more of it.
What is finite electricity?
Electricity that will run out since we can’t get more of it.
What are types of renewable electricity?
Sun, wind, water (tidal, hydroelectric, wave), geothermal.
What is an advantage of using solar electricity?
It doesn’t release carbon dioxide.
What is a disadvantage of solar electricity?
It can’t be used at night.
What is an advantage of using wind electricity?
It doesn’t cause pollution.
What is a disadvantage of using wind electricity?
It can’t be used on days that aren’t windy.
What is a disadvantage of water electricity?
It can’t be used if it’s not near water.
What is a disadvantage of geothermal electricity?
It can only be used in places with volcanoes.
What are examples of finite energy?
Fossil fuels (coal, oil, gas), nuclear.
What is an advantage of fossil fuels?
They’re easy to get and cheap.
What is an advantage of nuclear electricity?
It only releases small amounts of carbon dioxide.
What is a disadvantage of using nuclear electricity?
It can cause an explosion.
