A

Knots are prone to oxidization butts and knots turn red/orange

Young trees green, with age fades to a whitish-grey

Wood is creamy white in colour.

Grows in whorls

Outer bark is silver grey with pitch blisters all over. Greyish white flecks on mature trees, bark can have longitudinal cracks and flat ridges in older trees

Outer bark is thin and peels, inner bark is thin and reddish orange which darkens with age

Knots often grows in whorls, and are a deep purple.

Narrow scaly brown plates developing on the butts of mature trees
