When can a log be given grade Z
Where the heart rot or the hole runs the entire length of the log and the residual wood is less than 50%
When the rot deductions cause the log to be less than 1.2m
Also when sap rot or charred wood is visible and the top diameter is less than 10 cm.
- Lumber HemBal grade code D
A minimum 5 m log with 33cm or more radius
Where at least 75% of the gross scale can be manufactured into merchantable lumber
And 50% or that lumber is clear
- Lumber fir/pine grade code D
A log must be 5m or more in length and have a radius of 38cm or more
Where at least 75% can be manufactured into merchantable lumber
And at least 50% of that lumber will be clear.
- Lumber cypress grade code D
The log must be 4m or more and have a radius of 30cm or more
Where at least 75% can be manufactured into merchantable lumber
And at least 50% of that lumber will be clear.
- Lumber spruce grade code F
A log must be 4m or more in length and 38cm or more in radius
Where at least 75% can be manufactured into merchantable lumber
And at least 50% of that lumber will be clear.
- Lumber cedar grade code D
A log 5m or more in length and 30cm or more in radius
Or a slab 5m or more in length and 25cm in radius and 38cm or more in thickness
Where at least 75% can be manufactured into merchantable lumber
And at least 50% of that lumber will be clear.
A log must be 5m or more in length and 60cm or more in radius where at least 66% can be manufactured into merchantable lumber.
And at least 50% of that lumber will be clear.
- Lumber HemBal grade code F
A log must be 5m or more in length and 25cm or more in radius
Where at least 75% can be manufactured into merchantable lumber
And at least 25% of that lumber will be clear.
- Lumber cedar grade code F
A log must be 5m or more in length and 25cm or more in radius, or a slab 5m in length, 25 cm in radius and 38 cm or more in thickness
Where at least 75% can be manufactured into merchantable lumber
And at least 25% of that lumber will be clear.
- Lumber fir pine grade code F
A log must be 5m or more in length and 30cm or more in radius
Where at least 75% can be manufactured into merchantable lumber
And at least 25% of that lumber will be clear.
- Chipper HemBal, grade code U
5m log or more in length,
5-7cm in radius where at least 75% of the gross scale can be manufactured into lumber
8-18cm in radius where at least 66.66% of the gross scale can be manufactured into lumber
- 8m in length and 19cm or more in radius where at least 50% of the gross scale can be manufactured into lumber
- 35% of the lumber is merchantable
- Chipper All coniferous, grade code X
A log 3 m or more in length and 5 cm or more in radius
Where at least 33.33% of the gross scale can be manufactured into lumber
And at least 35% of the lumber is merchantable
Logs 25cm radius and over can have 2 knots every 3m
- Chipper all coniferous, Y grade
Logs lower that utility and higher in grade than firmwood reject
