Where can we find ciliated cells?

A
  • in the airways - they trap dust and pathogens in the nose and throat
  • oviducts - they move the egg from the ovary to the uterus

What are root hair cells?

A

plant cells w/ long extensions giving them a large S to absorb H2O and ions from the soil

What are xylem vessels (cells)?

A
  • cylindrical and empty
  • in columns - like pipes
  • thickened cell walls with cellulose and lignin (waterproof stuff)

A
  • make up fibres that can shorten/contract
  • some muscles attached to the skeleton
  • their contraction moves bones and joints
