  • Trough lvls are collected 30 minutes before dose.
  • Peak collection time varies by medication, patient metabolism & route of administration (I.V, I.M or Oral)

A
  • Specimens must be kept warm until serum is separated cells.
  • Blood is collected in red-topped tubes pre-warmed in incubator at 37 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes.

  • Chilled immediately after collection in crushed ice or ice water mixture.
  • Sent to lab immediately
