How is blood drawn for therapeutic drug monitoring test?
A
- Trough lvls are collected 30 minutes before dose.
- Peak collection time varies by medication, patient metabolism & route of administration (I.V, I.M or Oral)

How’re cold agglutinins handled?
A
- Specimens must be kept warm until serum is separated cells.
- Blood is collected in red-topped tubes pre-warmed in incubator at 37 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes.

How’re Chilled specimens handled?
A
- Chilled immediately after collection in crushed ice or ice water mixture.
- Sent to lab immediately

How’re light-sensitive specimens handled?
A
Wrapping the tubes in aluminum foil immediately after draw

What do you do if blood glucose lvl is read extremely low or strange?
A
- Calibrate the glucometer
