Define Special Reconnaissance
reconnaissance and surveillance actions conducted as a special operation in hostile, denied, or politically sensitive environments to collect or verify information of strategic or operational significance, employing military capabilities not normally found in conventional forces
Define Target Acquisiton
- detection, identification, and location of a target in sufficient detail to permit the effective engagement of the target by appropriate lethal or non-lethal means
- could be tasked to engage, attack, or destroy that target
Define Specific Data Collection
consists of all activities to collect a specified piece or type of information for purpose of planning for operations or missions intended to produce a non-lethal effect

What is the difference between covert and clandestine?
Covert-conceal the identity of or permit plausible deniability by the sponsor
Clandestine-assure secrecy and concealment of the act
What is the difference between detection and compromise?
detection-presence is known, ID and intent still unknown
compromise-identity, location, and intent is known
Define Close Target Reconnaissance
a low-visibility method of gathering intel on an enemy target when conventional recon methods are not practical
