Q

What is Spring Reverb?

A

Spring Reverb has a transducer at one end of a spring and a pickup at the other end.
Transducer creates waves that travel down the spring.

When the waves arrive at the end of a spring, part of the wave is reflected, staying in the spring.

What is plate reverb?

A

Plate reverb makes use of a steel plate under tension supplied by springs at the corners where the plate is attached to an outer shell.

Q

What is convolution reverb?

A

Convolution Reverb is a recorded sample of a acoustic space.
These samples are transferred into software for DAWs, where it can be manipulated digitally

What is Tape Delay?

A

Tape Delay is achieved by using magnetic tape loops, shortening and lengthening the tape, and adjusting tape heads to alter delay settings.

Q

What is Analogue Delay?

A

Analogue Delay works by controlling voltage using semiconductors.
The type of delay circuit used were called bucket brigade delays

Q

What is Digital Delay?

A

Achieved by using digital memory to store parameters and signals
Uses digital signal processing chips to create echo effects.
The signal is converted to digital at the front of the pedal, then back to analogue.

Q

What is wet signal?

A

The wet signal is the amount of reverb you want in the mix compared to dry signal; the amount of unaffected signal in your mix.

Q

How is delay time calculated?

A

Delay time show in milliseconds or note values
120bpm = 60 seconds so 2 beats in one second so 1 beat in 500ms
Therefore, ¼ note delay time at 120bpm=500ms
Increased bpm = decreased delay time
Decreased bpm = increase delay time

Q

How is a reverse reverb effect created on Logic Pro X?

A

Copy the track
Don’t copy automation data.
Make sure audio is clean.
Bounce in place
Add some reverb and get one with a long tail.
Make sure wet signal is relatively high.
Double click onto the audio and make sure advanced parameters are on a file, function, reverse
After that point bounce in place again. Leave the audio tail in. You can hear it’s come back in the right way, so we delete the actual audio and replace it with the original, clean audio.

Q

What is hall reverb?

A
  • Reverb with a very long tail often used to replicate a huge hall or indoor area.
  • They are great for thickening up strings or pads
