Spartan society

Upbringing and education in Sparta
Male infants would be killed off if any defects, both men and women would have education but separated during puberty, men would continue military training in the barracks into their 30s, but were expected to get married in their prime.
Women were focused on math, business, reading/writing, and tending to the homes.
What were Sparta’s man problems?
Low reproduction rate, the helots, two kings (eventually decided to just have one), reluctance to allow military to leave.
Social relations
Aristocratic communism: no disparities in wealth, did not work, barracks, communal.
Restrained democracy: Had the Apella (popular assembly) but would declare war on the helots to enable free assassination’s of rebels.
