- Expresses what would have happened
a. He would have worked but he was tired
b. He would have worked IF he weren’t tired.

Potencial Compuesto
habría + past participle
a. Él habría trabajado, pero estaba cansado
b. Él habría trabajado, SINO no estuviera cansado.
(When the dependent clause is introduce with “IF”
the verb in that clause will be in the imperfect subjunctive)
