Carlos I (1516-1556) Grandson of Ferdinand and Isabella, he united Spanish and Austria lands (Spain’s first “Hapsburg King”, Hapsburg’s were the royal family of Austria) Created a large Spanish Empire, Holy Roman Emperor, Fought for the Roman Catholic Faith, Split his empire in two.

Philip V of House Bourbon succeeded the Hapsburg Dynasty in Spain. After the death of Charles II in 1700, the House of Bourbon took control of Spain with this leader.
