The space race was a competition between the United States and Russia that had to do with space
What was the first Russian space craft to be launched into space?
The satellite Sputnik which was also the first man made item in space as well.
What was the main goal for the space race?
To launch the greater machine into space. They even wanted to send humans into space.
What allowed Russia to learn that living creatures could survive in space?
In 1957 Russia launched the Prosteyshiy Sputnik 2 that had a dog named Laika in it, the dog survived but later died due to lack of food.

The Explorer 1 was launched by the U.S on Jan 31 1958

Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space, he was sent into space on April 12 1961.
What was the Star Wars project?
The Star Wars program was a proposed missile Defense system that would protect the U.S.A from ballistic strategic nuclear weapons

Neil Armstrong was sent to the moon in the Apollo II. This happened on July 16 1969

When Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon America went down as the winner of the space race
