How does electrical resistance occur in resistors?
as the electrons flow through the lattice of vibrating ions , they collide with the ions. The more collision that occur the harder it is for them to pass through, therefore it results in a higher electrical resistance
What are some ways we can reduce resistance?
Use wires made of metals that have low resistances such as copper
Use thicker wire
cool down the wire to reduce the vibrating of the ions
From where do the appliances that need lots of power get it from?
from the mains electricity
What is the national grid?
a network of wires and cables which carry out the power suply from the mains
What is a Direct Current?
when the direction of the current stays the same
What is an alternating current?
when the direction of the current keeps changing
